1933 cover from SOERABAJA regarding the mutiny on RNN Pantzerschip

1933 cover from SOERABAJA regarding the mutiny on the RNN Pantzerschip, (Coastal Defense Ship) Hr. Ms. "Zeven Provincien". Violet K.M. censor's handstamp "Geopend door Censuur / MARINE". Diverted to the island of Madoera on which the mutineers were incarcerated prior to the Dutch Navy inquest and trial to the mutiny. Cover shows the censors redirection to Madoera in pink crayon and the blue aniline crayon postal large "M" also giving direction. From 'Hasanah Paneleh'. He was not a member of the crew, but probably an acquaintance of the recipient, whose name was wrongly spelled and rank not given on the envelope. The matelo concerned we believe was a certain, matroos 2nd class, service number 1310, 'S. Dareno'. [Refer to: page 2, Group III, (4th man listed), from the original inquiry documents. Copy on request] NB: Extremely poor condition. Ref: 302-114.

...…..Matroos Dareno, was awake though having just completed a ten hour watch on the Saturday. At 10.00 he heard a commotion and armed crew running around on deck, witnessing the mutiny taking place and realised the situation he was confronted with. He with three other sailors attempted an escape in one of the ships sloops over the port side of the hull. However he and his mates who attempted to leave the ship were prevented from doing so by armed mutineers one with pistol in hand and another with a fixed bayoneted rifle. No matter who or who was not involved with the mutiny the whole ships complement were transported and kept on the island of Madoera after the incident and up until the inquiry had finished and sentences passed.
