Hall was spying for Britain) - Observed a number of Naval installation, producing valuable reports on 'Brunsbuttel, Tonning and the Kaiser Wilhelm Canal' as well as on the 'Coast Defences at Kiel'. Lieutenant-Colonel Robert Julian Baumgartner, C.B. Commander of the 27th Inniskillings in India. 1814-1895. The regiment marched from Gwalior on 26th December, 1861, for Gondah in Oude. On arriyal at Lucknow on 16th January, 1862, the battalion was halted, was inspected the 20th January by Brigadier-General Kenny, C.B., commanding the Oude division, continued its march on the 26th January, and arrived at Gondah on the 1st February. Musketry after taking part in Indian Mutiny.

HEROISM' OF THE NORTHUMBER LAND FUSILIERS: Further particulars which have been received in regard to the disaster to Colonel Von Donor's convoy state that an attempt was made to pack the waggons in the convoy across the road, but that movement failed, owing to the native drivers bolting and the mules stampeding. The guns from the higher ground shelled vigorously until the Boers, charging with tremendous impetus and great spirit, captured the convoy. 1909 PPC (Melilla) GIBRALTAR to GB. Autominus city of SPAIN

1909 (30th. Sept) PPC [Melilla - soldiers] from GIBRALTAR to GB with d/r. GIBRALTAR p/m. Melilla: Autominus city of SPAIN - an enclave - Morocco. Message refers to war. In 1908 two companies, under the protection of El Roghi, a chieftain then ruling the Rif region, started mining lead and iron some 20 kilometres from Melilla. In October 1908 the Roghi's vassals revolted against him and raided the mines, which remained closed until June 1909. By July the workmen were again attacked and several of them killed. Severe fighting between the Spaniards and the tribesmen followed. Ref: 306-103.
