"I had 2 or 3 days last week embarking those .. 125 horses, 10 guns & 10 carts, which doesnt sound much after my Bombay experiences, but the appliances for loading & shipping here are nothing like what have in Bombay .. Another thing was that the Coaling had to be done down the Woosung 14 miles down the river after the transport had fit over the bar. 4 or 5 Regiments from the North are under orders to return to India this month. You seem to think that the Czar may have had something to do with Russia giving in about Manchuria. Im afraid his influence however good it may be practically nil, & I dont believe Russia has really given in all together about Manchuria yet. Also 1906 'Craufurdland Castle' PPC. Ref: 303-098.
