1915 (May) cover to 'Brig. Gen Hon. W.D. Sclater-Booth, RA Mess, Shoeburyness' [Essex] with very weak m/c. and oval WAR CABINET h/s. [Colonel Hon. Walter Dashwood Sclater-Booth gained the rank of Colonel in the service of the Royal Horse Artillery. He fought in WW1, where he was mentioned in despatches and wounded. He was decorated with the award of Companion, Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1915. He gained the rank of Honorary Brigadier-General] "The Honourable Walter Dashwood Sclater-Booth, Lieut.-Colonel, Royal Horse Artillery (L Battery)." The decorationwas awarded for action with L Battery near Andriegnes, 24 Aug. 1914, when attached Hon. W. D. Sclater-Booth. to the 2nd Cavalry Brigade. He was wounded on 1 Sept. following this at Nery. Ref: 313-043.

Dresser was mentioned in despatches on 25th Oct. 1917. He was awarded a Distinguished service order [DSO] in the new year’s honours for 1918] Folded. Ref: 322-104.
